Each Wednesday morning from Mid-April to early October the York Golf Club Seniors hold a weekly 18 hole event. This event is open to all York members and members of Capital City, University and York Lodges that are 50 years of age or older.
The team format changes every week thus creating spirited team events. There is no lack of fellowship before, during and after the matches. At the conclusion of play winners are determined and the names of the winners and amounts won are posted on the Club bulletin board. The Grill Room staff prepares luncheon specials each week at the conclusion of play.
The Senior’s average ~ 30 players each week and welcome any new members or members looking for a relaxed golf game. The Senior League membership also contributes money to the Worthington Food Pantry, Shriners Children’s Hospital, Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Saint Jude Children’s Hospital and the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.
During April, May, September and October the weekly shotgun start is 9:00 am and anyone wishing to play must register in the Grill Room or have called the Pro Shop by 8:30 am. During the months of June, July and August the shotgun start moves to 8:30 am and registration deadline is 8:00 am. Beginning in 2020, the Pro Shop will computer generate the score cards (eliminating the “Table of Knowledge”) making the deadline more important.
Members also receive a weekly email announcing the prior week winners, the “game” for the coming week, a weather forecast and other appropriate and timely information.
